Manage DirectAdmin Domains Without Confusing User Accounts

Published

DirectAdmin

DirectAdmin Domain Setup manages domains within the current user account. Adding, renaming or suspending one of those domains is not the same as creating, renaming or deleting a DirectAdmin user. Confirm the active role, user and domain before any action.

Add an authorized domain

  1. Enter verified HTTPS DirectAdmin and the intended user context.
  2. Open Account Manager > Domain Setup, or the corresponding domain-management screen in the installed skin.
  3. Choose Add New and enter the intended registered domain. Review package limits, resource allocations and security options rather than blindly accepting every default.
  4. Create it, then inspect its directory and hosting configuration. Publish DNS at the actual authoritative provider and verify certificate and application separately.

Rename with a dependency plan

Use the domain rename action where supported only after preserving a recoverable before-state. Confirm the new name is authorized and review website paths, application URLs, databases, email identities, certificates and DNS. A panel rename does not update every stored URL in an application or register the new name.

Suspend, restore or delete the domain carefully

Select the exact domain row and inspect the available Suspend/Unsuspend or Delete confirmation. Suspension and deletion are different tasks. Do not substitute a reseller/admin user-management action for the user-level domain action.

Before deletion, preserve required website files, databases, mail and configuration, and confirm the installed version’s removal scope. Do not promise the files remain or that adding the name back restores everything. Check external DNS and scheduled/application dependencies separately. If scope is unclear, stop and ask the provider through a support ticket.
