DOMAIN TRANSFERS · GICT AFRICA

Bring your domain closer to your business.

Move toward one clearer place to manage your domain. Start with a name, review the preparation steps, and let GICT help plan the transfer.

Enter up to 50 complete domains, one per line. Do not include transfer codes or passwords.

A SIMPLE WAY FORWARD

How to transfer your domain.

Each transfer depends on the extension, current registrar and registry. These are the steps we use to make the path clear.

01

Add your domains

Enter one name or a shortlist of up to 50. We organize the request so you can review it before sending.

02

Check the essentials

Confirm your registration contact, any transfer lock, the renewal date and the nameservers currently in use.

03

Get a transfer plan

Send an inquiry from your GICT account. We review the extension, provider route and current transfer price.

04

Approve the move

When a live route is available, GICT confirms the next steps and requests the authorization code through a secure process.

WHY BRING IT TO GICT?

More clarity around the domain your business depends on.

Registration, DNS, hosting and email often involve different providers. GICT can help you map those connections before a transfer and plan who will manage each part afterward.

01 / PLAN

Know what moves

We identify the registrar change and review the DNS, email and hosting services connected to your name.

02 / PROTECT

Plan for continuity

Review nameservers and important records before any switch, with a handover plan for active services.

03 / MANAGE

Keep a clearer record

Track the inquiry and follow-up through your GICT account while the provider route is confirmed.

BEFORE YOU START

A little preparation makes the move easier.

Use this checklist before requesting a live transfer. Requirements vary by extension, and GICT will confirm the applicable provider process.

✓
Confirm who controls the domain

Check that you can access the current registrar account and registration contact email.

✓
Check locks and dates

Review any transfer lock, recent changes, expiry date and extension-specific waiting period.

✓
Record your DNS setup

Keep a copy of nameservers and key web, email and verification records before changing providers.

✓
Keep the authorization code private

Request a code from your current registrar when needed. Share it only through a confirmed secure transfer step.

TRANSFER OPTIONS

Popular extensions, reviewed individually.

Transfer fees and renewal treatment depend on the registry and chosen provider. GICT confirms both in a quote before a live request begins.

GOOD TO KNOW

Domain transfer questions.

Find the practical answers, then ask GICT about the rules for your specific extension and registrar.

Will transferring my domain interrupt my website or email?

A registrar transfer and a hosting migration are different tasks. We review the current nameservers and DNS records before changing anything. Keeping the existing DNS configuration can help avoid interruption, but a continuity plan should be confirmed for each domain.

Do I need an authorization code?

Many generic top-level domains use an authorization code from the current registrar. Some country-code extensions use a different process. Keep the code private until GICT confirms a secure transfer route; do not paste it into this inquiry.

Why might my domain be ineligible right now?

A domain may be locked, recently registered or transferred, subject to a recent registrant change, expired, or affected by a registry-specific rule. GICT checks the relevant conditions with the provider before giving a transfer plan.

Does a transfer renew my domain?

Renewal treatment depends on the extension and registry. Some transfers include an additional registration year; others do not. The quote and provider terms should show what happens for your domain.

Can I transfer several domains together?

Yes. This page accepts up to 50 names in one inquiry. Each extension and registrar route may have different requirements, so GICT reviews the list before confirming a quote or start date.
