How to Reset WHMCS Admin Password
Published
WHMCS admin password is very important and you should not forget that password once set. But, sometimes we forget the password and there is nothing we can do about it. Normally, when you forget a password, you get an E-mail containing a password reset link that you can access to set the new password. In WHMCS too, if you have configured a proper mail server, you can use the password reset form to request a password reset link.
But, sometimes it does not work due to various reasons. For example, you cannot request a password reset link if the admin E-mail address is no more accessible or if you haven’t configured E-mail settings on your server.
Whatever the case may be, we have a solution. If the E-mails are working on your server, you can directly request a password reset link. However, if you are unable to request a password reset link, you can update it directly in the database via PHPMyAdmin. In this tutorial, I am going to demonstrate both methods.
Reset Admin Password via Website
We can reset the WHMCS admin password from the login screen. Access the login screen and click on the Forget password option given at the bottom of the card.
Now, Enter the correct admin E-mail address. It should match with the E-mail address set in the database. If the E-mail address matches, WHMCS will send a password reset link to your E-mail address.
Click on the password reset link you received in the mail. It will lead you to a page containing two fields to enter and confirm the new password. Submit the form to update your WHMCS Admin Password.
Reset Admin Password via Database
To use this method, you should have access to the MySQL database. If you are using cPanel, click on the PHPMyAdmin option just like the following image.
Now, find a database containing your WHMCS data. In the database, find and click on a tbladmin table that contains the admin information.
Find an Admin user you want to update and click on the Edit option corresponding to the record you want to update.
On the next page, find the password column. In the last field enter the new password and select the MD5 hash option.
Finally, click on the Go button given after the form to update the WHMCS admin password.
So, this is how you can update the WHMCS admin password. You can always use one of the two methods to reset your password. If you are unable to update your WHMCS admin password, you can contact our support department for help!
