Add, Manage and Delete Webuzo Domains, Subdomains and Aliases
Published
Webuzo’s domain controls manage hosted domains, subdomains and aliases. Historical Bread Basket screens used Features > Manage Domain; current labels and available domain types depend on the installed release. Domain management is separate from registrar ownership and authoritative DNS.
Choose the hosting relationship
An addon or separate domain needs its own intended content directory. A subdomain uses a child name, such as app.example.com. An alias/parked domain shares an existing site’s content instead of creating an independent website. Review the resulting name and directory, not just the label on a checkbox.
Add a domain, subdomain or alias
- Use verified HTTPS Webuzo in the correct end-user context, then open the installed Domain > Add Domain controls.
- Select the intended type and enter the exact authorized name. Older versions used an Addon/Parked checkbox rather than a type selector.
- For separate content, specify a supported independent path. For an alias, choose the intended existing site’s relationship/path; do not accidentally expose another directory.
- Review certificate and mail-validation options where offered. These initialize or request configuration, not guaranteed certificate issuance or authentication for every sender.
- Add the domain and inspect it in Manage Domains. Verify authoritative DNS, certificate and actual content separately.
Inspect or edit the current domain
The management list helps identify the domain and its available actions. Opening a domain in a browser samples one request; it does not prove every DNS cache, mailbox or application dependency is correct. Before changing a path or association, preserve the existing settings and required data privately.
Delete only after reviewing data loss
In Manage Domain, select the exact domain/subdomain/alias delete action and review confirmation. Preserve recoverable files, databases, mail and configuration first, and check shared-directory dependencies. The vendor’s brief delete procedure does not establish which data your installed version/options retain; do not promise complete recovery by re-adding a name.
Do not delete/re-add a live primary domain to initialize a certificate or mail-authentication record. Registrar cancellation, external DNS cleanup and hosting deletion are distinct operations. Verify unaffected sites and services after any approved narrow change.
