Change Plesk Passwords and Contact Details for the Right Account
Published
Plesk administrator, customer and website FTP/SSH credentials are not interchangeable. Use the workflow for your role, and verify the account before changing either its password or its contact information.
Administrator account
Sign in to your trusted Plesk HTTPS hostname, commonly on port 8443, and use the administrator Change Password or Profile and Preferences controls available in your version. Enter and confirm a long unique password, save it securely and test a new authenticated session before ending your recovery session.
A real address uses either a hostname or an IP address in the URL, not the old article’s combined hostname/serverIP placeholder. Do not ignore a certificate warning or use an unfamiliar reset page.
Customer account
- Open the account-name/profile menu and choose Edit Profile or the equivalent personal account setting.
- Change the Plesk login password in the appropriate password section and save.
- Review contact information separately. Confirm that the recovery email belongs to the authorized owner before changing it.
Website FTP/SSH access is managed separately under the subscription’s Web Hosting Access settings. Do not change the system-user credential when the request concerns only a customer login. Available controls depend on the provider’s permissions.
If you cannot log in
Use the recovery process appropriate to the account type and installation. A customer-facing forgotten-password option is not a universal administrator recovery method. Contact the responsible administrator or hosting support through an authenticated channel if your recovery route is unavailable.
Plesk also documents server-administrator CLI recovery. Such commands require authorized server access and can generate a privileged login link or change credentials; keep their output private and do not paste password arguments into terminal history. This article does not publish or generate a recovery token.
