Important Update: cPanel and Plesk Phasing Out Legacy Statistics Tools
If you regularly check your website traffic through your hosting control panel, we have an important update regarding the tools you use. The developers behind cPanel and Plesk have announced they are phasing out several legacy statistics programs across their platforms and introducing a modern replacement: GoAccess.
Why is cPanel Making This Change?
Technology moves fast, and the developers of your control panels want to ensure servers remain secure and high-performing. The classic tools we’ve relied on for years have reached the end of their lifecycle.
Specifically, AWStats was officially deprecated by its creators in November 2025. Similarly, Webalizer and Analog Stats are outdated and no longer maintained. Because these tools no longer receive necessary security updates or feature improvements, cPanel and Plesk are removing them in favor of GoAccess—a fast, visual, and modern analyzer that provides the same valuable insights.
What This Means for You
As we apply these mandatory updates from cPanel and Plesk to our servers, the timeline and impact will depend on which control panel your InterServer hosting account uses.
1. cPanel Users
According to cPanel’s official roadmap, this transition will happen in Q4 (the end of this year). At that time, AWStats, Webalizer, and Analog Stats will be removed entirely from the cPanel interface and replaced by GoAccess.
- Old Tools: AWStats, Webalizer, Analog Stats (Retiring)
- New Tool: GoAccess (Standard)
2. Plesk Users (Linux)
For our customers on Linux-based Plesk servers, the developers are rolling this out in stages:
- Version 18.0.77: Plesk will add official support for GoAccess.
- Version 18.0.79: AWStats will no longer be available for new hosting setups.
- Existing Sites: If you already have AWStats installed, the Plesk update will not remove it, meaning your current data remains accessible.
3. Plesk Users (Windows)
Because GoAccess does not run natively on Windows, Plesk has a slightly different plan for our Windows hosting customers:
- Webalizer will remain available on Windows.
- If you currently use AWStats on Windows, we highly recommend switching to Webalizer to ensure you have a supported tool moving forward.
Summary of Upcoming Changes
| Platform | What’s Changing? | New Primary Tool |
|---|---|---|
| cPanel | All legacy stats removed in Q4 | GoAccess |
| Plesk (Linux) | Gradual phase-out of AWStats | GoAccess |
| Plesk (Windows) | AWStats ending support | Webalizer |
At InterServer, we are here to make sure this upstream transition goes as smoothly as possible for your websites. If you have any questions about how to use GoAccess or how these control panel updates might affect your specific account, our support team is available 24/7 to help.
