Change a Mailbox Password in Webuzo or Legacy Bread Basket

Published

Webuzo/Breadbasket

Change a mailbox password in the Webuzo account that owns that mailbox. This is separate from changing the hosting-panel login, a database password or a website administrator account.

Select the intended mailbox

Sign in through the trusted panel address over HTTPS. In Webuzo, open Email > Email Account and locate the full mailbox address. Older Bread Basket interfaces used Email Server > Email Account; confirm the installed panel rather than relying on an old screenshot.

  1. Verify the mailbox and your authority to reset it. A panel administrator may be changing another person’s access.
  2. Use the mailbox’s Change Password action, enter a long unique password and save it securely.
  3. Confirm the result and test the intended mailbox through its trusted webmail or correctly configured encrypted mail client.
  4. Update authorized phones, desktop clients and applications using that credential, without distributing it in ordinary email or a public ticket.

Understand the effects

A password change is not mailbox deletion and should not be used to remove messages. It can cause repeated failures on devices that still use the old credential. Pause or update those clients rather than disabling authentication protections to stop lockouts.

If a mailbox was compromised, also review forwarding rules, filters, connected applications and recovery access. Changing the password alone does not establish that every active session/token is revoked or that an attacker-created rule is gone.

Reference: Webuzo mailbox-password workflow. The earlier Bread Basket wording is replaced with this attributed, scoped procedure.
