Install an Issued Website Certificate in cPanel
Published
Use cPanel’s SSL/TLS certificate-management interface to install an already issued website certificate. You need the certificate, its matching private key and the required intermediate chain. An Autofill action cannot retrieve a missing private key from the certificate authority.
Prepare the intended website
Confirm the account, domain and all required certificate names. Preserve the existing working configuration. If AutoSSL already owns renewal, check whether a manual certificate is necessary and how replacement/renewal will be coordinated.
Install the issued material
- Sign in through the trusted panel link. Open SSL/TLS and the Install and Manage SSL for your site area, or the corresponding tab in newer unified SSL/TLS Certificates interfaces.
- Select the intended domain and provide or select the certificate. Inspect its names and validity.
- Provide the matching private key through the protected interface. If Autofill by Domain/Certificate finds stored values, verify them; it cannot make an unrelated key match.
- Supply the issuer’s intermediate chain where required, then install and inspect the result.
Keep mail scope separate
Mail SNI options depend on server configuration and service support. Do not enable a mail option merely because an old screenshot selected it. Confirm the mail hostname and service certificate actually used; website success does not establish IMAP/SMTP coverage.
Verify externally
Test every intended HTTPS hostname without ignoring warnings. Check chain, coverage and expiry, including any proxy/CDN endpoint. Check redirects, forms and mixed content separately. A successful repository upload is not equivalent to the right certificate being presented publicly.
Document who renews the certificate and monitor failure/expiry. Do not paste keys into ordinary tickets or public certificate-checking sites.
