How to Add a Poll to Your WordPress Blog

Published

WordPress

One of the things which makes WordPress such a popular blogging platform is that it allows users to choose from an enormous range of plugins to add functionality to their websites. There are several plugins which allow you to add polls to your blog, and these are great for providing a fun and interactive way for your readers to quickly and easily provide you with useful feedback. A default WordPress installation does not provide you with this feature by itself, but downloading and installing a plugin to create and publish on-site polls only takes a matter of minutes. In this guide, we will use the popular WP-Polls plugin to display polls on your WordPress blog, though there are also several other similar plugins to choose from. Feel free to experiment until you find the one you like most.

  1. Log in to your WordPress administrator dashboard and open the “Plugins” section from the sidebar.
  2. Click “Add New” on the Plugins page and type “WP Polls” into the search box. Click “Search Plugins”.

  3. The WP-Polls plugin should appear at the top of the results. Click “Install Now” to install it. Click “OK” to confirm and click “Activate Plugin” once the plugin has been installed.
  4. A new section entitled “Polls” will appear in the sidebar. Click on this to manage and add polls.

  6. Open the “Appearance” page from the sidebar and click on the “Widgets” section.
  7. Locate the Polls widget in the left-side column and drag it over to your preferred widget area in the column to the right. The available widget areas determine where the polls will appear on your blog, and the options will vary depending on the WordPress theme you have installed.
