AWStats in cPanel: View Reports and Enable the WHM Feature
Published
To read AWStats reports, open cPanel > Metrics > Awstats and select View beside your domain. If Awstats is missing, enabling it may require your hosting provider or a WHM administrator; a normal cPanel login does not grant those server-level permissions.
Documentation reviewed October 14, 2026: The steps below distinguish viewing reports from enabling the server feature. The illustrations are retained from this guide’s 2016 version, not presented as screenshots of the current interface.
For a hosting account: view your domain’s report
- Sign in to the cPanel account that owns the website.
- Search for Awstats, or open it under Metrics.
- Select View for the domain you want to investigate. Check that the report covers the relevant domain and period before interpreting the figures.
The report includes traffic trends, referring links and HTTP status codes. These are log-derived measurements, not an exact count of people: automated requests, proxies and caching can affect what is recorded. Do not treat a visit count as a verified sales or audience metric.
If the interface is absent, open a support ticket with the domain, account name and a description of what you see. Do not send your password. Ask whether AWStats is available for the account and whether its feature list permits access. See cPanel’s Awstats documentation for the supported viewing interface.
For a WHM administrator: enable statistics generation
These steps require an authorized WHM login with the necessary server-configuration privileges. Reseller permissions can be restricted. Do not attempt to change settings on a server you do not administer.
- Open WHM > Server Configuration > Tweak Settings.
- Select Stats Programs.
- Set Enable Awstats stats to On, then save the change.
- Check the account’s feature list in Feature Manager if the cPanel interface remains unavailable. Use Statistics Software Configuration to investigate account-specific statistics settings.
Enabling the program and exposing its cPanel interface are separate checks. The documented setting is described in WHM’s Stats Programs reference.
If reports are empty or seem out of date
Record the selected domain, reporting period and any displayed update time. Then ask the server administrator to check log collection and statistics processing. A newly enabled setting is not evidence that historical data exists, and repeatedly changing unrelated server options is not a useful troubleshooting step.
For an InterServer-hosted account, include those details in a support ticket so the team can distinguish a missing feature from a reporting or processing problem.
