Customize the Account Suspended Page in WHM

Published

WHM

WHM’s Web Template Editor controls the placeholder page visitors see for a suspended hosting account. Changing that template does not suspend or restore an account; account status is managed separately.

Edit the suspension template

  1. Sign in to WHM with an account permitted to use the Web Template Editor.
  2. Open Account Functions > Web Template Editor.
  3. Select Account Suspended. Save a copy of the existing template before editing it.
  4. Change the HTML, preview the result, and save it. Alternatively, use Upload Your Own Template to choose and upload your prepared template file.

Root and reseller templates can have different scopes. A root-owned template does not automatically replace every reseller’s template. If the editor is missing for a reseller, the server administrator must check the reseller’s permissions.

Make the notice useful without exposing private information

Use a short neutral message, such as: “This website is temporarily unavailable. If you manage this account, contact your hosting provider.” Include an appropriate support route for the account owner, not billing details, accusations, private ticket contents, or credentials.

Keep the page self-contained where practical. If its logo or stylesheet is hosted on the suspended website, it may not load. Preview the template at a narrow mobile width and check text contrast, links, and any external assets.

Verify safely

Test with an account already intended for suspension or a designated test account. Do not suspend an active customer account just to inspect a template. Check both HTTPS and the reseller ownership context. If the page is wrong, restore the saved template before investigating cache or ownership differences.

If you are an InterServer customer whose site unexpectedly shows a suspension notice, open a support ticket for the account. Editing a public HTML page will not resolve the underlying account status.
