Find and Manage Nameservers for Your InterServer Service

Published

InterServer Support

Use the nameservers assigned to your actual InterServer service and DNS design. Hosting a website, registering its domain and serving its authoritative DNS are separate tasks. Changing delegation does not copy website files, mailboxes or every record from an old provider.

Find service-specific nameservers

Sign in to the InterServer customer portal and open the relevant hosting service’s details. Review its assigned/default DNS-server information and setup instructions. Historical portal screenshots used a Web Hosting service gear icon; exact labels can change. If the intended values are unclear, request them through a support ticket rather than borrowing another account’s list.

For reseller service, distinguish assigned shared nameservers from a deliberately configured private-name service. The old article’s fixed monthly private-nameserver price is not a current quote; confirm availability and charges for the actual account.

Using a separate DNS Manager

InterServer’s DNS Manager is separate from registrar delegation and a server panel’s local zone. Historical instructions reference cdns1.interserver.net, cdns2.interserver.net and cdns3.interserver.net. Do not assume these are the correct universal choice, that their historical IPs are current, or that a zone exists merely because those names resolve.

For a service authorized to use that DNS design, confirm account-specific instructions, add or inspect the intended domain and address, then review every generated record before changing delegation. Generated defaults may not match external mail, IPv6, verification tokens or an existing application. Keep unrelated records and before-states private and recoverable.

Custom nameservers and delegation

Self-managed VPS, Rapid Deploy or dedicated-server DNS needs an actual authoritative service, appropriate host/glue registration and verified zones. Those are not created automatically by purchasing a server. See custom nameserver setup and InterServer host registration. This is not an offer of VPS/dedicated migration assistance.

At the domain’s actual registrar, update delegation only after reviewing website, mail, verification and DNSSEC dependencies. Verify direct authoritative answers and then recursive results; there is no universal 24-hour completion promise. Preserve the previous configuration during a planned transition where appropriate.
