Use Plesk Reseller Backup Manager with the Correct Account Scope
Published
A Plesk reseller’s Backup Manager works within that reseller’s permitted account/customer scope. It is not the same as the server administrator’s full-server backup manager, and a configuration-only backup does not include website content.
Create the intended reseller backup
- Sign in with the authorized reseller account and open Tools & Utilities > Backup Manager, where available in the installed interface.
- Choose Back Up and inspect whether the selected scope includes only configuration or configuration plus customer/subscription content.
- Select the supported local or remote storage, full/incremental type, comment and notification options. Inspect the intended accounts before starting a large job.
- Start the backup and review completion, warnings and the actual artifact in the chosen storage.
Customer/subscription views may instead expose Account > Back Up My Account and Websites or Websites & Domains > Backup Manager. These paths reflect different roles; do not assume a reseller can back up unrelated tenants or change server-wide schedules.
Protect storage and dependencies
Configure a supported encrypted remote connection and protect destination credentials. Check quota, temporary working space and capacity for the full retained chain. A connection test proves less than a completed remote backup. Keep encryption/password recovery material safely available outside the server.
Incremental recovery depends on the matching full backup and required chain. Do not delete individual chain files manually or assume an increment alone is enough. Configuration/content choices and the treatment of databases differ from a generic file-copy model; inspect your release’s manifest and documented behavior.
Plan restoration before relying on it
Review restore scope and permissions, preserve the current destination and test representative customer data in an isolated environment. Contain mail, provisioning and scheduled integrations during a test. Suspending domains during a backup can affect availability and is not an automatic choice to make without coordinating it.
This article does not promise a particular InterServer reseller retention period, remote-storage entitlement or completed recovery service.
