Modify Topic Settings in SMF
Published
Managing topics is one of the most important things when it comes to Forum management. It is because the Forums are more dependent on the quality of discussion. If you have improper settings for Topics in your forum, your users might lose interest because of redundant topics, old topics, and old data.
That is why we have to decide things based for topics based on our requirements. Things like How many days before the topic is marked old and closed. And How many topics do you want on the index. The proper topic settings will help you maintain the quality of your forum.
If you are using SMF, it’s easier than ever to manage Topic settings. And that’s what I am going to show you in this short tutorial. So, Let’s get started.
Modify Topic Settings in SMF
To modify the topic settings, log in to the admin panel of your SMF and click on the Admin option given in the main navigation bar.
On this page, you will find a secondary navigation bar under the Admin section. In that section, find and click on the Forum -> Posts and Topics… option.
Under that section, you will find one more navigation menu specific to that section. From that menu, find and click on the Topic Settings just like the following image.
Now, Update the settings as per your requirements. Using this form, you can update almost anything when it comes to topics.
Once you have changed the settings, click on the Save button given at the bottom-right corner of the page to apply changes.
So, this is how you can modify topic settings in SMF. It is very easy as well as a very essential step to perform when you set up a new forum in SMF.
