Hostinger to InterServer: Website Migration Guide

Published

Migration

To move a Hostinger website to InterServer, export the site’s files and database from the control panel your source plan actually uses. Hostinger’s cPanel login documentation identifies shared cPanel plans as legacy; current shared hosting uses its dashboard, formerly called hPanel.

Complimentary migration eligibility: InterServer provides migrations for web hosting plans only, limited to cPanel-to-cPanel and DirectAdmin-to-DirectAdmin. VPS and dedicated-server migrations are not offered. Cross-panel transfers and website-builder conversions are outside this service; the manual instructions below are for self-managed moves when the matching-panel web hosting requirements are not met.

Download from the Hostinger dashboard

  1. Open the source site’s dashboard from Websites and search for Backups.
  2. Under Restore and download, choose Files backups, select the backup date and request Download files. Wait for preparation and download the archive.
  3. Choose Database backups, identify the site’s database from its configuration, and request its download for a matching backup date.

The Hostinger backup-download guide describes these separate files and database exports. Download every database the site uses. A historical backup omits later orders, uploads or comments; plan a current export or final synchronization before cutover.

Builder products need separate assessment. Hostinger says these backup downloads are unavailable for sites created with its AI Builder. Do not assume a builder’s internal restore point can be imported into cPanel. Confirm an export or rebuilding plan with support before cancelling the source service.

For an existing legacy cPanel plan

Sign in to Hostinger’s dashboard and open the specific legacy cPanel hosting service. Confirm the account and domain before exporting. If Backup Wizard is enabled, generate a full account backup to a non-public home-directory location and download it using authenticated access. Do not assume the tool is present on every Hostinger plan.

If your service offers JetBackup 5, Hostinger’s cPanel backup-download instructions describe separate home-directory and database exports. Those components are different from a full-account archive. Confirm which format the InterServer destination can restore.

For a site-level migration without a suitable panel export, download the document-root files, hidden files and other required application data through authenticated HTTPS, SFTP or FTPS where available. Export the database separately. Keep archives and SQL dumps outside public web directories.

Test before changing DNS

Import into the intended destination database, restore the files and update application credentials. Preview using the real hostname with an agreed hosts-file override or other supported mechanism. Check logins, forms and database-backed pages. Keep test copies from sending real emails or charging customers, then arrange the final sync and DNS cutover.

Website exports do not automatically move email or the registrar account. Preserve existing mail DNS when mail stays with Hostinger or another service. Retain the source plan until verification is complete.

Open a ticket in the InterServer customer portal to confirm destination compatibility and the migration support scope. For planning, use our migration backup checklist.
