How to Create New Products in osCommerce

After installing the osCommerce, the first thing you would like to do is to create categories and then create products in those categories. osCommerce provides a simple and easy-to-use interface to manage both categories and products in one place.

In this short tutorial, I will show you how easy it is to create a new product in osCommerce. So, Let’s get started with the tutorial.

Create a new Product in osCommerce

To create a new product, log in to the admin panel of your store and click on the Catalog -> Categories/Products option from the left sidebar. See the following screenshot for reference.

Now it’s time to understand why the categories and products share the same interface for management.

• When you click on the New Product button directly after accessing this page, the product you will create will become a “Top product”.
• When you click on any category and then click on the New Product button, your product will become a part of that specific category.

So, If you want to create a new product under a specific category, navigate in that category. And then click on the New Product button given at the bottom-right corner of the table.

Now, Enter the product details when you see a product creation form.

After filling up the information in the form, click on the Save button to save the product in your database.

So, this is how you can create a new product in the osCommerce store. In osCommerce, Products and Categories share the same interface and works just like it would work on the user side. If you want to create a product in a specific category, navigate to that category, and then create a new product.
